While investigating a gravitational signal, Altman finds the Black Marker in a crater near the town of Chicxulub. ![]() This obelisk-like object causes people to hallucinate and - as revealed later - has the power to reanimate the living corpses that "Dead Space" calls Necromorphs. In the novel, Altman uncovers the first Marker humankind has encountered. ![]()
